The Oskaloosa City Council on Monday approved its consent agenda and several routine land-use and administrative measures.
Council approved the consent agenda in a single motion and roll-call vote; the consent items included the appointment of Cody Schultes to the Board of Adjustment.
During the regular agenda the council approved a resolution authorizing a special assessment for weed cutting under City Code Title 8, Chapter 8.20. The resolution followed a required public hearing; no members of the public spoke on the assessment and the council voted to approve the measure.
The council also approved the final plat for the Career Corner Subdivision, a minor subdivision of an approximately 8.43-acre parcel submitted by Samuel and Amy Jo Career; staff confirmed the application met the criteria in Oskaloosa Municipal Code section 16.04.020 and planning and zoning recommended approval.
On the consent agenda the council introduced and approved on first reading a '2080 agreement' with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division (ABD) authorizing the Oskaloosa Police Department to conduct local compliance checks related to tobacco and alternative nicotine enforcement on behalf of the ABD. The council also approved on first reading an ordinance establishing tax-increment financing (TIF) for the Edmondson North Urban Renewal Area to support anticipated development and related improvements.
All measures recorded in the meeting passed on voice or roll-call votes as presented; no amendments or failed motions were recorded in the transcript.
Next steps: The ordinance creating the TIF district and the ABD agreement will proceed through required subsequent readings or administrative implementation steps before becoming final.
