The State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education elected its officers for 2025 and approved a series of committee motions during the Dec. 11 meeting.
Mr. Hollis moved a slate of officers and nominated Kevin Birkin for secretary-treasurer, Stacy Mellorin for vice president and Ronnie Morris for another year as president; Mr. Appel seconded the motion and the board approved the slate by voice vote with no exceptions raised.
The board also approved committee recommendations by voice vote: Academic Goals and Instructional Improvement Committee motions 1 through 28 (motions 26 and 27 noted as notices of intent), Board Administration and Education Finance Committee motions 1 through 19, Educator Effectiveness Committee motions 1 through 29, Legislative and Governmental Affairs Committee motions 1 and 2, and School Innovation and Turnaround Committee motions 1 through 17. Each committee chair moved the grouped motions and the board indicated no exceptions.
The meeting record indicates these approvals were made without recorded roll-call tallies; the chair declared the motions passed after hearing none.
These actions complete the business portion of the agenda; no contested roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript.
