At its Dec. 10 committee meeting, the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education adopted the consent agenda, approved notices of intent for revisions to early childhood bulletins, and directed staff to proceed toward final adoption of health education content standards.
The chair called for and received approval of the consent agenda (items 3.14.1 through 4.4). Later in the meeting, the board considered item 5.1—revisions to early childhood policy bulletins (137 and 139)—and approved staff’s recommendation to publish notices of intent to revise those bulletins.
On item 6.1, staff presented the summary of public comments and agency responses related to the Oct. 20, 2024 notice of intent for bulletin 103 (Louisiana health education content standards). The board authorized staff to receive the summary report, submit it to legislative oversight committees and proceed with final adoption and submission of the rule to the Louisiana Register in January 2025. Mister Harris moved and Mister Castillo seconded the motion; the chair recorded adoption with no objection.
These procedural approvals direct staff to proceed with the rulemaking steps outlined in the board packet, including required stakeholder and legislative notifications.
