Board approves sale of Belle of Baton Rouge vessel; security must remain until removal

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board on Dec. 19 approved a petition allowing Catfish Queen LLC (doing business as Belle of Baton Rouge Casino) to sell its remaining vessel, with the condition that the licensee maintain security personnel at the vessel until it is removed from the premises.
Jeff Barvin, representing Catfish Queen, described the request as a technical approval to enable the licensee to sell the vessel, which the company intends to sell to a scrap metal dealer, and said gaming operations have already been moved to a temporary land-side facility.
"This is a technical approval that we're seeking today to be able to sell the vessel that's left," Barvin said.
Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Lewis Jr. told the board the AG's office found nothing to preclude the sale but emphasized that dedicated security must remain around the vessel until removal; after removal the licensee will be relieved of the rolling security requirement.
A resolution documenting prior approvals for the property's relocation and the suspension of vessel-certificate requirements was read into the record. The board adopted the resolution following a motion by Ms. Lewis and a second by Ms. Traylor and recorded affirmative roll-call votes from members present. The resolution conditions continued security until the vessel is removed.
The board provided no further action on the matter and moved to the next agenda items.
