A finance staff member told the Hanover School Committee on Feb. 28 that the town advisory committee (ADCOM) has voted to support the school budget, and the committee thanked ADCOM for its detailed review. "I am very pleased to report that our budget has been supported by our advisory committee or ADCOM," the presenter said.
Why this matters: ADCOM support is an important step in the local budget process leading into the town meeting cycle. Committee members said the district and advisory committee have engaged in a collaborative review, but a number of budget drivers remain uncertain and will continue to shape deliberations.
Athletics fees
The finance presenter also introduced a draft memo on athletics fees and asked school committee members to review it and provide feedback. The athletic director, Mister Hutchison, was offered as a presenter and could attend an upcoming meeting as soon as March 13 to answer questions. Committee members said they preferred to have the full committee, including absent members Pete and Jackie, review the proposal before substantive policy changes are discussed.
What's next: Committee members were asked to submit questions and feedback so staff can incorporate them into the next draft; the March 13 committee meeting will include further budget discussions and a transportation contract item, and may feature the athletic director for a focused discussion on fees.
