Ellen, the district grants presenter, reviewed a slate of state, federal and private grants the district has received for FY23–25 and asked the committee to accept the amounts.
She noted a number of items, including a Metco grant that had programmatic approval and was pending final financial approval in the amount of $1,100,323, a $35,000 playful learning institute grant, a $29,600 comprehensive school health service grant for FY25, a new hate‑crimes‑prevention award of $49,905, and an IDEA entitlement grant of about $963,000. Ellen said Judy Townsend, the assistant finance director, works with administration on grant submission and DESE reporting.
Following Ellen’s presentation the chair asked for a motion to accept all grant amounts; a member moved, another seconded, and the committee completed a roll‑call vote. The chair stated the motion passed 6–1. Later the committee moved into executive session under M.G.L. c.30A §§21(a)(1) and (3) to discuss collective‑bargaining strategy and personnel matters. After returning to open session the chair announced the committee had accepted the memorandum of agreement as presented with the cafeteria workers union.
