Jay O'Brien told the committee he wanted the district to eliminate two diversity, equity and inclusion positions and use the funds to create a local culinary elective and weekend commissary program. He said he had photographed an "all‑gender" restroom at an elementary school and questioned prior district statements that there was "no gender discussion in grades 1–3." O'Brien framed his proposal around reducing DEI administration and increasing hands‑on elective opportunities.
Another commenter, identified as Miss Crosby, described operational problems at Sharon High School and in athletics. She said there were 39 uncovered classes on Dec. 9, that the committee had voted on Oct. 30 to increase daily substitute pay to $110 but that a SchoolSpring posting for daily subs did not appear until Dec. 6 and listed the pay as $100. She asked why positions approved by the committee (two building substitutes at the high school and one at the middle school) had not been posted and asked why an athletic‑trainer posting was delayed until Aug. 27 and remains unfilled. Crosby also urged reinstating baseline concussion testing for student athletes and said AEDs should be available field side during contact sports.
