Owasso sales and use tax collections come in above budget for month, staff reports

The city’s monthly sales and use tax report showed stronger-than-budgeted collections for the month.
Carly Novosinski (city staff) reported that combined sales and use tax collections were 7% over budget and noted that one of the city’s largest retailers had a prior‑month correction included in December’s collections. Novosinski said that even without that correction, collections were 2.8% over budget and that use tax continues to be strong, coming in 9% over budget for the month. When asked, staff said use tax accounts for roughly 10% of the combined sales/use tax budget (sales tax budget about $45 million; use tax budget about $5 million).
Councilors asked for context about trends; Novosinski said use tax is rising but that sales tax remains the larger share of the revenue mix. No decisions were taken; the report was informational.
