House concurs with Senate amendments to emergency medical services bill

The House of Representatives on May 10 concurred in a Senate proposal of amendment to House Bill 622, an act relating to emergency medical services.
Members heard from the member from Cambridge, who outlined three Senate amendments. The first changes reimbursement language so the Agency of Human Services must report the additional funds needed to reimburse EMS providers at a level equal to the applicable Medicare rate instead of the Medicare basic life support rate. The second and third amendments revise duties of the statewide EMS advisory committee and require coordination with the public safety communication task force and county and regional governments study committee to align system design recommendations with 18 VSA 901.
The clerk noted the Senate proposal of amendment had been emailed to members and posted on the House overview webpage. After discussion, the House concurred in the Senate proposal of amendment by voice vote.
The action was procedural concurrence rather than enactment; the bill will proceed under the legislative process with the Senate amendments included. Members were informed where copies of the proposal were available on request at the main table.
