The board approved raising adult rodeo tickets to $15 and reviewed event budget increases tied to bleacher rental ($36,217.50), fencing, light-plant and generator rentals; organizers said sponsorships are being pursued to offset costs.
Organizers of Pacific's cowboy rodeo told aldermen on Aug. 6 that rising costs for bleachers, fencing and equipment mean the event's finances are tighter this year, and the board voted to increase adult ticket prices.
An event organizer reported that bleacher rental is confirmed at $36,217.50 and the operational line for the rodeo stands at $20,000. Additional rental items include porta-potties (about $2,570), generator rental (approximately $1,876.49) and potential fencing labor of $1,500 if donated panels are provided. Organizers said they plan to seek $28,000–$30,000 in sponsorships to help cover these costs.
To help protect the budget, the board voted to raise adult tickets from the prior price to $15; children's tickets were set at $5 for ages 5–12 and children under 4 are free if seated on a lap. The organizer told the board the venue will have 2,450 seats per night and that presales plus gate inventory will be managed to avoid overselling.
Board members discussed the risks of reduced margins if nights are canceled for weather and urged organizers to continue pursuing sponsorships and explore permanent bleacher quotes to lower future costs. Staff will proceed with administrative approvals for light-plant rentals if the chosen vendor keeps the quote within the board's spending thresholds.
