Committee approves seeking quotes for pool repairs; sandblasting likely to exceed budget
Summary
Committee authorized staff to get quotes for sandblasting and resealing pool joints, lighting, gutter and plumbing repairs and other end-of-season maintenance. Staff cautioned the estimated cost of sandblasting and painting will likely exceed the $44,000 pool-maintenance line.

Public Works and parks staff asked the committee on Oct. 24 to authorize getting quotes for end-of-season pool maintenance, including sandblasting and resealing joints, repairing rotted doors and frames, updating lighting, plumbing repairs, gutter fixes, and repainting interior surfaces.
Commissioner Bergman said staff had not yet received vendor quotes but highlighted sandblasting and resealing as the largest anticipated expense. The committee reviewed budget lines cited by staff: $44,000 for pool maintenance, $12,000 for building maintenance (bathhouse/pumphouse), and $6,400 for pool equipment. Bergman said the sandblasting and painting work ‘‘probably [will be] over $44,000’’ and staff would return with firm quotes and prioritize items.
The committee moved to recommend staff obtain pricing and return to the board or committee with specific cost details; members said smaller interior repairs and simple lighting upgrades can proceed in-house if appropriate.
Next steps: staff to collect vendor quotes and bring prioritized recommendations and any necessary budget amendments to the committee or board.
