Committee releases several transportation bills, including training and toll-notice measures

The Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee advanced several bills on Oct. 21, 2024, while holding one measure for future consideration.
Chairman Clinton Calabrese said A2596 would be held at the request of Assemblyman Karabinchak. The committee then considered A560, which would require transportation network company drivers to complete anti‑human‑trafficking training; members voted to release the bill with one abstention recorded. A2115, extending training requirements to public‑transportation employees and requiring course review at least once every two years, was amended for clarity and released unanimously in committee.
The committee also released A4433 and identical Senate bill S1433 to designate the bridge over Crosswicks Creek on I‑295 North as the Benjamin Moore and 6193rd Sapper Company Memorial Highway. Assembly bill A4525, which requires the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and South Jersey Transportation Authority to provide written notice and a remedy process before issuing administrative toll fees, was moved and released. Committee members recorded their votes on the record for each bill.
All released bills will proceed to further consideration on the Assembly calendar; A2596 remains held.
