Boonville forms ad hoc airport board and names five members to address airport needs

The Boonville City Council agreed Sept. 3 to form an ad hoc airport board and accept five initial members who have agreed to serve. The council described the body as an ad hoc committee — not an ordinance-established standing board — that will provide a forum for airport users and the public to bring concerns and recommendations to the council.
Council said the board membership includes former council members, airport users and at least one pilot, Logan Pfeiffer. The council indicated the ad hoc approach allows faster formation without drafting a new ordinance and that meetings will remain open for public comment. The mayor pro tem said the city will represent itself on the board and that Teresa will serve as the city’s nonvoting representative.
Council members asked whether any appointees must be Boonville residents; staff said the pool included Cooper County residents and that some appointees are not city residents but are regular airport users. After discussion the council voted to appoint the five members and approved establishing the ad hoc board.
