Board warns F and M Motors its license will not be renewed after garage condemnation

The Holyoke City Licensing Board told the operator of F and M Motors (414 South Street) that it does not intend to renew the business's dealer license after the Board of Health condemned the garage as unsafe.
Staff reported the business had been the subject of multiple notices and that no corrective work had been completed. Commissioners said the condition posed a public-safety risk and that the licensing board would send a formal letter notifying the operator he may not conduct business on the condemned premises and that vehicles must be removed by the close of business Dec. 31. Staff said the license holder had not submitted renewal paperwork for 2025.
The board discussed enforcement steps observed in prior cases and noted that, if the operator fails to remove vehicles, the city could take administrative or towing actions outside of the board's licensing process. Commissioners emphasized they had given prior warnings in November and that the current status — condemnation by public-health authorities — makes renewal inappropriate.
The board asked staff to draft and send the formal notice and to report back if the operator complies or seeks a hearing. The board left open the procedural record to allow enforcement agencies and the licensee to respond before any final administrative removal or additional enforcement.
