School committee approves student trip, RMK contract, banner sponsors and an MOA; holds funds pending para bargaining

Travel and programs: The committee approved an out-of-state overnight trip for eight students to attend the CADCA national leadership forum in Washington, D.C., with Eastern Wings of Hope sponsoring student participation; two staff and one coalition member will chaperone. The committee also approved a contract with Raising Multicultural Kids (RMK) to deliver culturally responsive programming in elementary classrooms (DCLL for grades 1—; LILS for pre-K and K). The RMK contract will be paid from grants and includes a 10 percent fundraising discount, district staff said.
Banners and sponsorships: The committee voted to accept a slate of new banner sponsors (Allied Services; Apex Auto Body; Brabance Enterprises; Katana Inc.; Palm Landscaping; Park Dental; Bridal Vibes Yoga; Russell Burnham/Bourne Enterprises; Wizard Computer Services) and held approval for one listed business, "Primary Colors," until administrators can confirm the business type and appropriateness for school posting.
Labor and contract actions: After returning from executive session, the committee approved a Unit A memorandum of agreement for a win block at Richardson Olmstead. Separately, the committee said the $100,000 town appropriation originally discussed as potential para pay remains unspent and will be addressed during upcoming bargaining with the Eastern Educators Association.
All votes were conducted by roll call and recorded in the meeting minutes; committee members indicated appreciation for programmatic work funded by outside grants and asked administrators to provide follow-up details where the committee requested clarification.
