Committee approves sale authorization of surplus Conway parcels

Mister Smith told the Long Range Capital Planning & Utilization Committee that the Department seeks authorization to sell several state-owned parcels in the Town of Conway under the applicable state disposal authority. Mister Smith responded that the department has repaid Federal Highway approximately $28—to—29 million and that several parcels still need to be marketed; some, including parcels on Thompson Road near Cranmore Mountain, will be coming online in the next year as related trail and survey work is completed.
A motion to approve the department's authorization request (item 24038) was made, seconded and adopted by voice vote.
The department said buildings on the properties suffered from weather and lack of maintenance mainly due to insufficient funding and that the land itself remains valuable. Staff committed to reaching out to prior owners and to proceed with marketing the parcels once conditions and local requirements are satisfied.
The committee recorded no roll-call tally in the transcript; the item was approved by voice vote.
