At its Jan. 9 meeting the Parks and Recreation Board appointed two community volunteers to the Burbank Athletic Federation (BAF) and set routine calendar items for 2025.
Acting recreational manager John McGinley recommended Glenn Hamanaka (an incumbent) and Elise Stearns Niesen to fill two three‑year volunteer seats on the BAF. A board member moved to appoint them, the motion was seconded, and the board approved the appointments by voice roll call.
The board also reviewed the 2025 meeting calendar presented by administrative analyst Megan Wilkie and agreed to observe two traditional "dark" months — July and December — for planning and holidays, with staff able to schedule special meetings if time‑sensitive items arise.
The consent calendar was approved by motion and voice vote; specific consent items were not removed for separate discussion.
No controversies or oppositions were recorded on these routine items; staff will continue to manage appointments and calendar scheduling as part of regular operations.
