Greene County Legislature holds CDBG and property tax-exemption hearings, approves routine resolutions and appointments

The Greene County Legislature on Dec. 18 heard public testimony — and no public objections — on the county’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and two proposed property-tax exemptions, then moved through a series of routine resolutions and appointments.

At the opening public hearing, an unidentified presenter said the county’s April 2023 CDBG award totaled roughly $300,000 to fund a micro-enterprise assistance program. According to the presenter, about $255,000 was disbursed to 12 small businesses in Greene County, while roughly $30,000 was paid to a consultant for program delivery and about $15,000 was retained for administrative or consultant fees; the presenter said the program is expected to wind down in April 2025. The chair closed the hearing after no members of the public requested to speak.
