Brentwood aldermen approve package of ordinances, change orders and infrastructure work

At its July 15 meeting the Brentwood Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a suite of zoning permits and sign-plan ordinances, adopted code changes for home occupations and spot surveys, approved a Placker change order for erosion repairs, and authorized overnight mill-and-overlay work on McKnight Road.
Brentwood’s Board of Aldermen on July 15 approved a series of ordinances and administrative actions, moving forward on land-use approvals, street repairs and capital plans.
The board adopted multiple ordinances that emerged from the public hearing earlier in the evening. Bill 6506, which amends Chapter 400 of the Brentwood City Code to delete the business license fee for home occupations, passed on second reading and became Ordinance 5183. The board also enacted Bill 6512, requiring submission of a spot survey after installation of a foundation for new construction to verify setbacks; that measure became Ordinance 5184 after discussion about whether the check should occur at footing or foundation stages.
Council members approved four land-use-related ordinances that had been recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission: amendments to the conditional-use permit for the Watering Bowl pet-care facility (Bill 6513 → Ordinance 5185); a conditional-use permit for Activate Games, an interactive indoor recreation business at 8324 Eager Road (Bill 6514 → Ordinance 5186); and comprehensive sign-plan approvals for AMCO at 2828 S Brentwood Boulevard (Bill 6515 → Ordinance 5187) and Reinecke Decoration Center at 8121 Manchester Road (Bill 6516 → Ordinance 5188). Planning and Zoning recommended approval of these items, and applicants asked for first and second readings the same night.
On routine business the board approved the consent agenda, which included Resolution 1512: a change order to the contract with Placker (Plockner) Construction for emergency erosion repairs at the flood mitigation site. The consent package passed by roll call, 7–0.
On infrastructure work, the board voted by voice to allow Gershinson Construction to perform the McKnight Road mill-and-overlay outside normal construction hours (overnight continuous operation), a scheduling option staff said would complete milling and paving in a single continuous operation beginning at 8 p.m. The motion included a commitment to notify adjacent residents (staff said notifications typically extend about 300 feet). The motion carried on a voice vote.
All recorded roll-call measures passed unanimously in favor (7–0). The meeting concluded with no citizen comments and was adjourned by the mayor.
