Missoula County commissioners approved a slate of appointments to the Elections Advisory Committee and moved members within the Missoula County Airport Authority during their Dec. 19 administration meeting.
Elections advisory committee: Speaker 7 reviewed a pool of applicants and recommended moving Jack Renick from first alternate to Seat 4; appointing John Newman as first alternate student representative (partial term through Aug. 31, 2027); Adrian Fran as the student representative; and David Lay as third alternate (through Jan. 2026). Speaker 7 listed other applicants considered, including Garrett Van Hose, Greg Woodward, Mary Ann Ali, Chance Carter, Janice Trickle, Dudley Improda, John Newman, Kathleen Walker Smith, Larry Chase and David Lay. Speaker 4 moved to approve the slate and Speaker 3 seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote.
Airport authority board: Speaker 7 said incumbent Larry Anderson reached his term limit for a five-year seat through Dec. 31, 2029. The airport authority recommended promoting alternate David Bell to a member seat and shifting county representative Shane Stack into an alternate seat; Speaker 4 moved to make those changes, Speaker 3 seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. Speaker 7 noted that appointments for seats that must be held by county employees are handled separately.
Several participants thanked staff for a multi-month appointment process. The meeting record shows no public comment on these items and the appointments were approved by voice vote; individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the public transcript.
