County to lease Jamestown office for state-funded lead rental registry through March 2029

Chautauqua County’s Public Facilities Committee authorized a five‑year lease with the City of Jamestown to provide office space for the Chautauqua County Health Department to run a New York State lead rental registry program.
Jessica Wursley, director of environmental health, said the county received state funding in June for the lead rental registry and that the grant funds inspections of rental properties with two or more units for lead hazards through "March 2029." She told the committee staff need a Jamestown presence to work closely with city code‑enforcement staff and that the lease will provide space and parking passes for program staff. "That program gives us a commitment of funds through in into, March 20 29," Wursley said in the meeting transcript.
Josh Rothwell, assistant deputy director of public facilities, said the county negotiated with the city for a small office at city hall and described the space as about 188 square feet; he said the public defender and other county employees nearby will provide shared internet access. Committee members asked whether the grant covers the full five‑year lease; Wursley said the grant will cover the lease term as currently written but that staffing needs are not part of the lease resolution and remain subject to future staffing decisions.
