Committee confirms sewer-district reappointments, OKs $5,000 study map and plan

The Chautauqua County Public Facilities Committee confirmed three six-year reappointments to the South and Center North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District and approved funding to finalize an engineering map and plan for potential sewer extension in the DeWittville area.

Tom Walsh, director of the South and Center North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District, told the committee the study was done by East Squared Engineering and will examine conveying sewage either to the South and Center North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District or to a local wastewater treatment plant. "E Square Engineering has done a study and with the funds that we are willing to contribute at $5,000, they will put together a map and plan," Walsh said.

The resolution confirmed the reappointments of Pierce Shegnon, Chair Karen Ryan and William Chandler to six‑year terms. Committee members noted one appointee first served on the board in 1982. The committee then approved a separate proposed resolution authorizing use of the sewer district contingency fund to pay the county contribution toward the map and plan; Walsh said the finished map will be used to pursue funding from other agencies.

The committee approved both resolutions by voice vote. The meeting record does not list individual vote tallies or any recorded dissents.
