Gallagher said the grant is a no‑match award and would be "an incredible benefit to our community," noting Butte‑Silver Bow was the only Montana community awarded in EPA Region 8 and that three awards were granted within the region. He credited Butte‑Silver Bow staff, community development staff, Montana Resources (through the Parks & Trails Foundation) and consultant teams for preparing a strong application.
Gallagher framed the grant as aligned with goals in existing local plans, saying a resiliency hub and community center concept had appeared in the parks and Uptown master plans and that the grant would help realize those priorities. Staff said technical support and conceptual designs were part of the application package.
No formal action was taken on the announcement during the meeting; staff will follow federal award procedures as details are finalized.
