The committee favored testing Ripple Glass at the new Public Works site where it would be out of residential view and would not require immediate code changes.
One member who had visited nearby installations reported they take up parking and sometimes are dropped without permission, creating cleanup costs for property owners; staff said Ripple Glass will bring empty containers and remove full ones and that the company supplies promotional bags for residents. A motion was made and seconded to place a Ripple Glass container at the new Public Works building on a trial basis; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff will work with Ripple Glass on siting and operational details and will report back to the committee with observations and any recommended code changes if the pilot is extended.
