Agriculture committee favorably reports several measures, including SB286, HB364 and HCR14

The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee conducted a series of procedural actions and voted unanimously to report several measures to the committee on rules and reference.

Appointments: Chair Schafer read a list of governor’s appointments to multiple boards and commissions, including nominees to the State Auctioneers Commission, Materials Management Advisory Council, Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board, Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Environmental Review Appeals Commission. A committee member moved to approve the appointments and the clerk recorded affirmative responses from members; the motion carried.

Senate Bill 286: The committee considered amendment AM 1353049-2, described by Vice Chair Landis as removing a provision that would have authorized the Ohio River Commission or the Department of Development to apply for and receive loans from the U.S. government. With written proponent testimony noted from James Kennedy of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio and no in-person speakers, the committee voted 5-0 to favorably report the amended bill to rules and reference.

House Bill 364: No testimony was received on HB364 at this hearing. Vice Chair Landis moved that the committee favorably report the bill; the committee voted 5-0 to report it to rules and reference.

House Concurrent Resolution 14: Members reviewed written-only interested-party testimony from Joy Molineux of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission. Vice Chair Landis moved that the committee favorably report House Concurrent Resolution 14; the committee recorded a 5-0 vote and reported the resolution to rules and reference.
