P&Z backs AMCO sign plan for former Walter’s site on South Brentwood Boulevard

John Simon, the sign contractor, said the proposal included a small wall sign and a 22-square-foot monument sign at roughly the location of the prior pole sign.
Staff noted the previous pole sign had been removed as part of regulatory compliance and highlighted potential visibility issues for vehicles entering from an adjacent side street; the applicant supplied an approach study and stated the monument is five feet high and set back such that sight lines should be preserved. Landscape work will remain in place except for two shrubs removed to accommodate the sign.
Commissioners discussed sight lines and the proportion of the new sign relative to existing landscaping. After clarifications the commission recommended the plan to the Board of Aldermen by roll call vote with unanimous support.
