The Brentwood Planning and Zoning Commission recommended that the Board of Aldermen approve a conditional use permit for Activate Games to operate at 8324 Eager Road in the Meridian development, forwarding five staff conditions including replacement of missing landscaping.
Applicant Chase Dorgerson described Activate Games as an "active entertainment space" focused on teamwork and physical activity and said the company operates multiple locations nationwide; "Expected opening would be sometime in December, assuming everything goes to plan," Dorgerson told the commission.
Staff said the use is recreational and requires a CUP in the planned-development overlay and noted the property’s overall parking and multistory garage configuration meant a separate parking study was not required. Staff also asked that missing or dead landscaping shown in the site plans be replaced; property management indicated willingness to comply.
Commissioners asked technical questions about window-film treatment to achieve required darkness in the gameplay area and whether external graphics would require a separate comprehensive sign-plan review. The commission moved and voted unanimously to recommend approval to the Board of Aldermen.
The recommendation will be placed on the Board of Aldermen agenda for final action.
