Brentwood aldermen approve park-rules and mobile‑vendor ordinances, hear library lease amendment and tax‑rate hearing

The Brentwood Board of Aldermen on Sept. 3 approved two ordinances and advanced several other items on first reading.
The board voted 8–0 to adopt Bill 6509 — an ordinance amending park rules — which became ordinance number 5151. The board also approved Bill 6518, an ordinance amending chapter 605 of the city code relating to mobile food vendors; that measure became ordinance number 5152 by an 8–0 roll-call vote.
Earlier in the meeting the mayor opened a public hearing to set the 2024 ad valorem property tax rate; no members of the public spoke and the hearing was closed with no questions. The mayor said no presentation was needed because the matter was straightforward.
The board removed one item from the consent agenda, then moved and seconded approval of the remainder; roll-call approved the consent agenda 8–0.
On new business, the board introduced Bill 6526 for first reading and said it would take a second reading at the next meeting (tying back to the earlier tax-rate hearing). The board also gave first reading to Bill 6527, a second amendment to the lease and services agreement with the Brentwood Public Library that recognizes the library’s ability under Missouri law to enter construction contracts and to set its own tax rate in future years; the board scheduled a second reading at the next meeting.
With no citizen comments and no need for a closed session, the mayor adjourned the meeting.
