Brentwood Architectural Review Board approves two residential additions, tables third

On Sept. 19, 2024, the City of Brentwood Architectural Review Board approved two residential alteration plans and tabled a third application for lack of materials, then received a brief building official report and adjourned.
The board approved an application for 8741 Covington Court, where the project will remove an existing sunroom and replace it with a new addition that extends a couple of feet past the original rear of the house and removes an earlier deck. Architect Al Levine of Levine Associates told the board, “Essentially, it's taking out an existing sunroom, filling it in with a new addition.” Board members discussed adding a closure or lattice under the framing to keep out rodents and to avoid an unsightly storage area; Levine said the detail was not shown on the plans and that the small crawl space made such closure optional.
For 9344 White Avenue, Philip Dimoli of Apex Construction said the homeowner is proposing “this bump out to extend it towards the second floor” to accommodate a bathroom while leaving the first-floor footprint unchanged. The board confirmed the proposal matched existing materials and trim.
No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period for either application. Carl Carlin moved to approve the Covington Court application "as noted;" Matt Foreman seconded. Roll-call votes recorded Carlin: yes; Foreman: yes. The White Avenue change was approved in similar fashion after the board confirmed material and trim details. An application for 8501 Douglas Court was requested to be extended to the next meeting; the board noted there were no documents on file and Carl Carlin moved to table the item. The motion was seconded and approved.
During the building official's report the director said the office already had submittals for next month’s meeting but did not provide specific project names. With no further business the board voted to adjourn.
