The Brentwood Board of Aldermen voted unanimously on Nov. 4 to approve a temporary construction easement from the Little Bit Foundation that will allow contractors to access and repair a section of the Leewind Trail damaged in the 2022 floods. The aldermen perfected Bill No. 6532 in ordinance form and recorded the vote as 8–0, at which point the measure became Ordinance No. 5160.
City staff explained the easement covers property at 516 Hanley Industrial Court and provides access behind the Little Bit Foundation building so crews can reach the trail segment and make repairs. "We are going to start construction on Leewind Trail. The damage is done during the 2022 floods," said city staff during the reading of the bill.
The board conducted a first reading of the bill, agreed to a second reading, and then voted to perfect the ordinance in the same meeting. A roll-call vote recorded each alderman voting yes; the clerk announced the bill would become Ordinance 5160.
The ordinance authorizes a temporary construction easement in coordination with the Little Bit Foundation; specific easement terms were attached to the staff packet and discussed in committee, according to staff comments. The staff summary said negotiations with the foundation were completed and the foundation was "favorable to the easement."
The board took no additional actions tied to funding in the meeting record and did not discuss a construction timeline during the public session. Staff indicated the matter had been reviewed by Ways and Means and by the appropriate committee before the ordinance was brought forward. The next steps identified in the record were execution of the easement documents and contractor mobilization to begin trail repairs.
Ordinance: Bill No. 6532 → Ordinance No. 5160 (adopted 8–0).
