Brentwood aldermen unanimously adopt 2025 budget and revised pay schedule, vote to meet in closed session

The Brentwood Board of Aldermen on Dec. 16 voted unanimously to adopt two ordinances — a revised employee compensation schedule and the citys 2025 budget — and later approved a motion to convene a closed meeting under state statute.
City Attorney (unnamed) read Bill 6535 on second reading as "An ordinance repealing ordinance number 5157 and establishing or revised compensation schedule for Brentwood employees and related matters and providing for the effective date of this ordinance." The board moved to perfect the bill into ordinance form and, by roll call, approved it 8 to 0; the bill became Ordinance No. 5164.
The attorney then read Bill 6536 on second reading: "An ordinance adopting the annual budget for the city of Brentwood, Missouri for calendar year 2025 and providing for the effective date of this ordinance." After a motion to perfect, the board again voted 8 to 0 to adopt the budget; the measure became Ordinance No. 5165. The mayor (unnamed) said, "We now have a budget for 2025." The consent agenda earlier in the meeting, covering four items, also passed by the same unanimous tally.
During alderman reports before the votes, Alderman Plovka said a public safety meeting scheduled for Dec. 18 will be postponed to January. Alderman Wege publicly thanked Chief Spies and Brentwood police for an "enhanced presence up at the school," saying several parents had expressed appreciation. Alderman Gold said tomorrows communications committee meeting was postponed to January because there was "no measurable report needed," and Alderman Harter thanked volunteers and staff for the holiday party and Santa parade.
Later in the meeting the board approved a motion, seconded and carried 8 to 0, to go into a closed meeting pursuant to RSMo section 610.021(1), the Missouri statute that allows closed meetings for certain personnel and legal matters. The agenda did not specify the subject of the closed session.
The boards votes were recorded by roll call; in each recorded roll call the aldermen listed by the clerk were recorded as voting "Yes," producing the unanimous 8-0 outcomes for the consent agenda, Bill 6535 (Ord. 5164) and Bill 6536 (Ord. 5165).
