Carl Junction police report chief's recovery, successful youth event and an active suspect with multiple warrants

The Carl Junction Police Department told the Board of Aldermen the chief is recovering and is expected to return to duty in January, though full duty may take several months.
The PD also reported a successful community youth event that drew about 241 children and many volunteers; staff said volunteers helped the department finish the event earlier than in prior years.
Separately, the board heard about an active suspect who fled into nearby woods after an attempted stop. Officers deployed a drone and a K‑9 but did not locate the person. A speaker later stated the individual faces multiple outstanding charges including three failed-to-appear counts, felony tampering, felony property damage and resisting arrest, as well as two misdemeanor warrants. The board discussed coordination with Jasper County and the possibility of setting a perimeter and obtaining permission to search residences if needed. No arrests were reported during the meeting.
