Osage Beach accepts ARPA grant for ambulance gear and authorizes application to buy new ambulance

The Osage Beach Board of Aldermen voted to accept an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant to support ambulance services and authorized staff to apply for a separate federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase a new ambulance.
Chief Todd Davis told the board the ARPA award — up to $50,599.77 — will fund medical equipment, computer equipment, training aids and additional training for the ambulance service. "We were awarded that grant," Davis said, adding the award carries a 90/10 state‑local match; he said the city's share (about $5,060) is already included in the FY2025 budget.
Davis also said the ambulance supervisor identified a federal grant opportunity to buy a new ambulance and asked for board approval to submit an application with an immediate deadline. "The current price of the ambulance is about, I believe, it's 375,000," Davis said, and he described the Assistance to Firefighters Grant cost share as "95.5 federal and city 5%." The board authorized staff to proceed with the application.
City staff noted the ARPA match is covered in the approved budget and that timely submission of the AFG application was necessary because the deadline was the following day. The board approved both the acceptance of the ARPA funds and the resolution authorizing the grant application.
Next steps include completing grant paperwork, accounting for the municipal match in the FY2025 budget and returning to the board with award results or contract approval if the AFG application is successful.
