Saline Area Schools superintendent announces retirement effective July 1, 2025

Superintendent delivered the district’s annual State of the District to the Saline Area Schools Board of Education on Dec. 10 and, at the close of the presentation, announced he will retire effective July 1, 2025.
In a summary of district priorities the superintendent highlighted four continuing goal areas: academic rigor (including a Compass review led by the executive director of teaching and learning), culture of equity, civility and unity, and district improvements funded by a recently passed $180 million bond. Staff presenters described district investments and results including leveraging more than $1 million in grant funds for student and staff supports, progress on curriculum reviews and career‑tech programs, special‑education partnerships and events, stronger fund balance management, and ongoing safety and facilities projects.
After the presentation the superintendent said he will send a community letter and that the timing of the announcement is intended to give the board ample time to organize a search and transition plan. He said he will help with a smooth handover to the next superintendent.
Board members responded with appreciation for his 27 years with the district and said the board will begin next steps to identify and onboard a successor so district operations and programs proceed without interruption.
