District reports TCTC program approvals, roof and bleacher projects; Black Street classroom to get air testing

Dr. Wright, director of operational management, updated the board on several facilities and safety matters on Dec. 10, including program licensing, construction status and indoor-air testing plans.
Wright reported the TCTC nail-tech and barbering classroom passed school-facilities inspections and licensing reviews; the district plans a ribbon-cutting on Jan. 6 (time TBD). He also said gym-bleacher installation at a middle school is underway as a capital-improvement project and that district office roof work will conclude before the end of the following week.
Board members raised several facility concerns: the superintendent's suite air-conditioning unit remains under repair (board asked for a status update), and air-conditioning units removed from Black Street Early Childhood Center had been outdoors and many were not repairable. Wright said a targeted air-quality test will be scheduled as soon as next week for the classroom with visible residue so the district can rule out or confirm mold concerns.
Wright noted lighting installation in the high-school gym and that pothole repairs at a middle-school parking area are expected to be completed by Jan. 6, 2025. Board members also asked that safety enhancements (window treatments, door locks) be considered in the FY25-26 budget planning and that the district provide warranty information for the completed roof work.
The board asked for follow-up email updates on AC-unit research and the condition of parts removed from Black Street; Wright agreed to respond through the superintendent.
