Board approves three overnight student trips and accepts three professional-staff recommendations after executive session

The Colleton County School District Board voted Dec. 10 to approve three overnight student trips and later accepted three professional-staff recommendations that were considered in executive session.
Superintendent Williams described the trips and sponsors: a WGI regional winter-guard contest (40 students, 10 adults); a varsity wrestling state competition Feb. 21-22, 2025 (18 students, 2 adults); and a March 20-23, 2025 "Pathways to Purpose" leadership and business-program trip to Orlando (55 students, 8 adults). Trustee (Speaker 2) moved to approve all three overnight trips and Speaker 4 seconded; the board voted unanimously to approve them so students and sponsors could finalize registrations and reservations.
The board then entered executive session to discuss a set of issues including employment matters. On returning to open session the board (by unanimous vote among those present) accepted three professional-staff recommendations that had been presented in executive session; the chair recorded the motion and the vote but did not read individual roll-call tallies in the public record.
Board members noted the importance of timely confirmations so trip planners and sponsors can proceed with reservations and noted that superintendent staff will provide any remaining educational-activity documentation requested by trustees.
