Several board members said they would like more training before approving broader classroom use.
The committee also heard from Miss Caesar and staff about a newly funded district robotics program. "We've received a grant from NASA, and we opened it up district wide to our high schoolers," staff said; 33 applicants will be narrowed to a team that the district hopes will compete regionally and nationally. Board members praised the opportunity and discussed internships and student‑run tech shops as ways to give students hands‑on experience and lower repair costs.
Staff noted the district already uses classroom management software (LineWise) for teacher control and monitoring in class; staff can offer training during PLCs or on‑site to librarians and teachers. Several members requested more structured professional‑development offerings on AI and LineWise features before the committee implements districtwide policy.
The committee did not vote on AI or robotics policy at the meeting; staff said they will return with training plans and procurement specifications as needed.
