The Weber School District Board of Education on Wednesday formally welcomed newly elected board member Wiley Williams, appointed Brock Mitchell as the district's business administrator and elected Paul Widdison as board president and Doug Hurst as vice president.
Wiley Williams was introduced by the presiding officer and read a short biography noting he represents precinct 7 (a portion of Roy and part of unincorporated Weber County) and has a background in school leadership and administration. “I’m very excited for this opportunity, and grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve the families and the children in this great area,” Williams said after thanking constituents and family members in the audience.
The board moved to appoint Brock Mitchell as business administrator and approved his contract by voice vote. Mitchell took the oath of office and said he was “very humbled by the opportunity to take on this role,” adding he had spent recent months working in the business department and planned to support and grow the team’s current work.
During the organizational portion of the meeting the board accepted a nomination of Paul Widdison for president and approved it by voice vote. Jan nominated Doug Hurst for vice president; the board approved Hurst’s election by voice vote as well.
Mitchell later reviewed the recommended monthly board meeting schedule for the 2025–26 year, saying meetings will generally fall on the first Wednesday at 6 p.m. with three exceptions: April 9 and June 11 (adjusted for spring break and the annual budget hearing) and no meeting in July. The board approved the schedule.
The meeting moved on to other agenda items after the organizational business concluded; the board later voted to convene a closed session to discuss a personnel-related matter.
What’s next: The board finalized its calendar for monthly meetings through January 2026 and will follow established public-notice procedures if any dates need adjustment.
