A consultant from Teach Leading told the Iberville Parish Council on Dec. 17 that a year-long program of workshops, interviews and employee surveys produced measurable gains in staff perceptions across eight indicators, and recommended continued training and clearer communication.
The presenter (Teach Leading) said the parish ran a kickoff followed by spring and fall workshop series and ‘‘gave every employee a survey’’ to measure eight indicators including policies, resources, accessibility, culture, transparency, infrastructure, communication and economics. The consultant reported a rise in the policy indicator from 3.27 in January to 3.64 in August, which the presenter described as an ‘‘11.3% improvement.’’ The presenter also reported improvements in accessibility (+13.47%), transparency (+14.84%), communication (+15.22%) and culture (+9.12%), and said participation included workshops and one-on-one interviews.
Dr. Blanchard, introduced during the presentation as a partner in the work, said the data collection — including stay and exit interviews and both paper and electronic surveys — was critical to verifying progress. She described the methodology as interviews with employees across departments and multiple workshop dates intended to surface what ‘‘works’’ and where the parish should focus improvements.
Parish President Chris Daigle (in his president’s report) highlighted the work as part of broader employee investments and told the council an HR position has been added; the consultant said an HR person had recently been hired. The presentation said managers received targeted training on conflict resolution and that organizers hope the reforms and the new HR lead will continue momentum into 2025.
The presenters left printed copies of the survey materials and summarized metrics for council members; chair and council thanked the presenters and opened the floor for brief questions. No formal action was taken; the presentation was informational and will inform ongoing personnel and training plans.
