Board adopts several policy revisions, including updated engineering and pre-K language
Summary
The board approved a package of policy revisions (BCBB, BCBJ, CBD, GAK, GAMK, GBC, IDDF, JGC), adding a requirement that architectural/engineering contracts follow state guidelines and updating IDBA to explicitly include pre-K.
The policy revision committee reported it reviewed a group of policies and recommended approval with two minor wording changes: 1) policy FEA (Architectural and Engineering Services) was updated to state that contracts should follow state guidelines and to remove obsolete language requiring diskettes/CD-ROMs; and 2) policy IDBA (education) was revised to include pre-K in the grade listing.
Speaker 13 told the board that two policies (BCBJ and GAMK) are new as a result of recent legislative action; the remainder were fine-tuning adjustments. The board moved to approve the policies as presented and the motion carried.
The committee recommended the changes to ensure policy language reflects current state procurement guidance and program coverage.
