Board approves $578 one-time stipend for 'highly effective' teachers under differentiated compensation

The stipend is explicitly one-time and "shall not be the basis for determining any permanent salary increase in the future," per the presentation. The cost of the stipend will be paid from the differentiated-compensation allocation provided by the Louisiana Department of Education.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the number of eligible teachers; the presenter estimated about half the district would qualify. The board moved to approve the distribution plan and the motion carried without recorded opposition.
Next steps: administration will implement payroll adjustments to distribute the stipend on Jan. 10, 2025 and apply required withholdings in accordance with payroll records.
