The Richland One board adopted its 2025 legislative platform on Dec. 10 and elected officers to serve in 2025.
Miss York presented the proposed legislative platform and said the administration made one minor revision under accountability since committees reviewed the platform. The board agreed to publish a brochure for the Richland County legislative delegation and to post the platform on the district website. "Upon approval of our 2025 legislative platform, we will create a legislative platform brochure to share with members of the Richland County legislative delegation," the presenter said. The platform passed on a voice vote.
Following the platform vote, the board cleared the slate and nominated and elected officers for 2025. Commissioner Robert Lomenac was nominated and confirmed as board chair; Commissioner Weston was chosen as vice chair; and Commissioner Erica Hersey was elected secretary-treasurer. Commissioners discussed expectations for leadership and asked the incoming chair to schedule quarterly work sessions for deeper policy review.
What comes next
The administration said it will publish the legislative platform brochure and share it with the county delegation. The new officers will assume their duties for 2025 and the chair will appoint a parliamentarian as appropriate.
