Board approves server, roof and service contracts; district notes 15 school psychologist vacancies

The Richland One school board voted Dec. 10 to approve multiple operations contracts including server replacements for district schools, warehouse roof replacement and student support services contracts.
The administration read items 8.04—8.07 together and recommended approval of contracts for: server replacement at district schools; warehouse roof replacement at the district warehouse; speech-language pathology services; and temporary school psychology services. "We have not started the facility's condition assessment, but things like roofs that have major leaks in them are evident... and we know that we need to replace that roof because of all of the items that are stored in our warehouse," facilities staff said.
On temporary school psychology contracts, the board asked whether out-of-state providers offer in-person services. Administration replied that vendors provide both virtual and in-person services and reported "We have a total of 15 vacancies currently" for school psychologists, which administration said includes contracted psychologists.
The package was moved for approval and passed by the board. Commissioners asked for clarity on vendor in-person coverage and staffing levels; administration provided the vacancy count in response.
