Later in the meeting staff recommended, and the committee approved, placing crisis‑response and training items on the full board consent agenda. In a final procedural action the committee took a unanimous voice vote on a property‑purchase action to be handled in session.
Project and operations updates: Program managers reported progress on 2019 and 2023 bond referenda closeouts and on camera/security system rollouts. Staff said 21 of 35 schools have had camera/access‑control installations completed for that scope; remaining cameras are on a contractor punch list and the board asked staff to provide a recurring report showing nonfunctioning cameras by site.
Custodial transition: The district has transitioned to three contracted custodial vendors, achieved an overall staffing level above the 80 percent target, and will begin applying contract deficiency penalties on Jan. 1 tied to a new inspection workflow. Maintenance staff reported both recent recruitment of HVAC and plumbing technicians and an outgoing HVAC manager role the district is filling.
Water monitoring: Staff described the district’s new Beacon real‑time meter access with Buford‑Jasper Water and Sewer, which allows hourly flow thresholds and automated alerts to detect leaks and reverse flows.
No binding policy changes or additional appropriations were approved in committee; staff said many items will be scheduled for the full board for final action.
