The Beaufort County School District operations committee voted to recommend that the board name Beaufort Middle School’s media center for Carol Ingram.
Administrators and former colleagues described Ingram’s 18 years leading the school and said naming the media center would honor her contributions to literacy, humanities programming and long‑term mentorship of staff and students. A school administrator recounted Ingram’s role in mentoring future leaders and said the media center — the building’s hub for learning — is an appropriate recognition.
Committee members expressed unanimous support during discussion. One member said the tribute is “befitting” because Ingram can appreciate the honor while still active. The committee moved and seconded a recommendation that the board adopt the name; the motion passed by voice vote and will be placed on the board agenda for final action.
The recommendation will proceed to the full board for formal approval; staff did not provide a date for that board vote during the committee meeting.
