PARRIS ISLAND/BEAUFORT, S.C. — Representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps briefed Beaufort County School District officials on July 23 about a proposed Intergovernmental Support Agreement, or IGSA, that would let the military contract directly with the district for projects that benefit both the installation and local schools.
The military presenters said the office has roughly $2.3 million to $2.5 million available now for an initial turf-and-track project and will ask headquarters for authority to obligate up to $5 million per year for 10 years — a ceiling they described as a planning limit the service could use if the partnership expands.
