Veterans staff told the Rules and Actments Intergovernmental Relations Committee that the PACT Act (enacted in 2022) expanded presumptive service‑connected conditions for veterans exposed to burn pits and certain herbicides, prompting many previously denied claimants to reapply. The agency also said it is undertaking museum and "role of honor" projects that require additional project management capacity beyond the current two veterans service officers and an executive assistant.

Legislator (speaker 4) moved to increase the temporary line by $15,000; the chair seconded and the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
