Department of Public Works staff said municipal solid waste tipping will rise from $128.25 per ton to $130.65 per ton, a 1.87% increase tied to recent contract pricing. Yard-waste tipping will increase from $40 per ton to $50 per ton. Staff noted construction and demolition (C&D) debris is listed separately on the rate sheet but recommended explicitly adding it under the MSW amendment; the committee amended the motion to include C&D material and approved the updated schedule.
Why it matters: DPW said the changes align county rates with nearby facilities and reflect recent bid pricing. A presenter estimated yard-waste tonnage at about 1,300 tons per year, which would increase revenue for that line by roughly $13,000 annually.
Implementation: presenters said the new rates are expected to take effect the first week of January (possibly Jan. 3). The committee voted to approve the amended rate schedule.
