The Lewis County Board of Legislators voted to approve a slate of consent resolutions at its November meeting, including auditing and allowing claims totaling $4,864,798.58 and authorizing the county treasurer to make necessary year-end budget transfers. Chair announced a previously scheduled public hearing on property at 6357 East Main Street would not be held and the related resolution (No. 242) was withdrawn.
The auditing resolution (No. 241) was moved by Andrea and seconded by Jeff; a legislator stated they would recuse themselves because they had approved vouchers that intersected the payments under review. The board conducted a roll call and carried the resolution. The finance committee also reported a separate set of claims totaling $9,658.58 that it recommended for audit and allowance; that motion passed.
The board separately approved Resolution 256, authorizing the county treasurer to make year-end budget transfers. Treasurer Eric explained that line-item adjustments are completed to avoid ending the fiscal year with overdrawn accounts and that final fund-balance figures are typically available after the books close and the annual AUD filing, approximately in April. Legislators asked for a final list of transfers; Eric said the list can be provided and that the transfer process often concludes in February–March.
Other consent items carried included Resolution 248, which fixes the date for a public hearing on adding an OHV trail system as it relates to the Michael Dahlhoff property (legislators discussed that the trail had been used historically and the landowner seeks to formalize it), and Resolution 250, which sets a public hearing for local law introductory No. 4-2024 to formalize opening Braningham Road through to Van Arnhem Road.
The meeting record shows the consent slate was moved and carried and that routine procedural steps (motions, seconds, and roll-call votes) were performed on the floor. The chair closed the business portion of the meeting and members proceeded to other committee reports and announcements.
