Seneca County’s Economic Development, Tourism and Housing committee approved a set of small tourism promotion grants and established a 2025 appropriation for the county’s tourism promotion agency.
The board authorized $2,258 in tourism promotion development grant funds to the Lodi Whittier Library to complete an EV‑station installation; the library reported receiving $21,225 from NYSEG and requested the smaller county contribution to finish the project. The committee recorded the vote as 3–2 with two supervisors opposed.
The committee also approved a $5,000 tourism grant for the It’s A Wonderful Life Museum and Festival after the town confirmed a $7,000 local commitment to the event. A previously tabled $5,000 after‑the‑fact request from Seneca Lake Resorts for fireworks funding did not receive a motion and remained tabled.
Separately, the board established a 2025 funding appropriation for the tourism promotion agency, naming the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce. Supervisors requested a presentation from the Chamber at a future meeting showing how tourism dollars were spent and an update on the tourism center before the item comes to the full board.
